Anti-Graffiti Powder Coatings

Anti-Graffiti Powder CoatingsAnti-Graffiti powder coatings are capable of withstanding harsh solvent cleaning and giving excellent interior and exterior durability.  They will withstand strong cleaning agents for relatively long periods of time, without detriment to the gloss or long term properties of the coating.

The choice of cleaning agent will depend upon the type of coating being removed from the powder surface, but tests show that apart from paint stripper, nearly all solvent based cleaners are suitable without detriment to the powder coating film.

The properties of a cured film are dependent on the condition of the substrate, which must be thoroughly clean and dry and free from oxide, rust, scale, etc.  Corrosion resistance is improved with the employment of phosphate or chromate conversion coatings, as appropriate, prior to powder coating.

In order to achieve these substrate conditions at Hydralon we have a comprehensive range of pre-treatment facilities.  Our Technical support team can advise on the most suitable pre-treatment for each end use.

Typical performance figures for an Anti-Graffiti coating are:-

  • Adhesion - Cross hatch test BS EN ISO 2409 Excellent Pass Gto
  • Flexibility - Mandrel bend test BS EN ISO 6860 : 1995 Very Good Pass 5 mm
  • Impact resistance BS 3900 E3 Excellent Pass 20 inch lbs
  • Scratch test ISO 1518 Excellent Pass 4kg

Corrosion Resistance

  • Salt Spray BS 6496 : 1992 1,000 hrs No breakdown
  • Humidity BS EN ISO 11341 : 1998 1,000 hrs No breakdown

Continuous Heat Resistance

Good colour and gloss retention are exhibited at temperatures up to 130ºC in continuous and 140ºC in intermittent operating.
