Anti-bacterial powder coatings
Anti-bacterial powder coatings provide an active biocidal system based on silver, that is effective against major strains of bacteria. The coatings can be applied to metal, glass and in some cases to MDF and have all the excellent decorative and protective attributes of quality powder coatings.
Pre-treatment is the key to long term durability of coatings and having selected the appropriate
pre-treatment for the intended environment from Hydralon's wide ranging and closely controlled processes we use Akzo Nobel's Interpon AB anti-bacterial powder coating.
The active silver ions in Interpon AB inhibit bacterial growth and independent tests have proven effective at inhibiting the growth of the following bacteria.

Surfaces which are likely to be vehicles for spreading bacteria can be cleaned with detergents and chemical disinfectants, but if the surfaces themselves are also able to actively inhibit bacterial growth the defence against bacteria is improved.
The anti-bacterial effect of Interpon AB is rapid and effecting bacterial population reduction within 4 hours. Tests to the internationally recognised standard JIS Z2801:2000 show bacterial colonies reduced to 99.98% or better.
Interpon AB has been shown to exhibit zero growth for fungi and moulds.
The anti-bacterial action remains for in excess of 10 years dependant on the functional environment.
Anti-bacterial coatings are especially suitable for use in hospitals and health care organisations, food and drink processing plant, the catering industry, air conditioning and ventilation plants, refrigeration, kitchens, toilets and bathrooms.
