Hydralon History
Hydralon was established in 1955 and moved to its present site in 1966, it grew and prospered adding a purpose built warehouse in 1976. Later two more units were acquired at the Southampton site allowing all its operations to be combined on a single 25,000 sq ft site.
Consistent quality has been the main stay of Hydralon for many years. In 1976 it was MOD DefStan 05/24 approved and subsequently moved to BS 5750 in 1988 one of the first powder coating companies to obtain this accreditation. The quality management system was upgraded to ISO 9002 and subsequently to ISO 9001:2000 with no exceptions.
Over the years Hydralon coatings have been exported world wide. Our customers have won more than 40 Queen's Awards for export and technology - to which we have made a valuable contribution.
Some of the components and sub-assemblies coated by Hydralon have travelled all over the world - in the British Corcordes, on the Royal Yacht Britannia, in satellite communications equipment, in stairlifts in Japan, in traffic control systems in Bangkok, in the McLaren F1 and on the Airwave hang glider on which Judy Leeson set a world record balloon drop from 41,000 feet over Jordan.
